The image of the young actress being mobbed by pigeons is taken from Love from London: A City of Stars, an exhibition featuring famous faces from the golden age of cinema. Audrey Hepburn visiting Richmond Park, Marilyn Monroe taking tea at the Savoy Hotel and Brigitte Bardot travelling on the Tube are among the photographs on display at the Getty Images Gallery in London.
Louise Garczewska, gallery director, said: "Love from London is a wonderful celebration of why this amazing city is beloved by stars of stage and screen."
Taylor was 16 when this photograph was taken and already a major star thanks to roles in Lassie Come Home and National Velvet. Visitors to Trafalgar Square could not recreate Taylor's pose today - feeding the pigeons was banned in 2003 by Ken Livingstone, then Mayor of London, who claimed they posed a health hazard.
The exhibition runs until October 9.
